New intake for May Half Term is now OPEN
The Youth Fitness Academy will ensure children understand how to train, why we train, what effects this can have on the body as well as looking at the importance of exercising safely and effectively. This will all be done in a supportive, educational, fun and safe environment.
Our Youth Fitness Academy (YFA) aims to work with children aged 10 to 15.
The YFA has been put together by experienced instructors who are highly qualified, hold enhanced DBS, First Aid and Insurance. Each session will focus on three key principles;
- Fun
- Safety
- Correct form
- Age: All participants must be aged 10 to 15 years of age when registering.
- Ability: Sessions may not be suitably adapted enough to cater for children with mobility issues or any form of physical disability. Please contact us direct before registering if required.
- Interest: It is crucial children express an interest in taking part, rather than being forced to attend.
- Maturity: All children must be prepared to listen and follow instructions.
- Progression: Children will have a review at the end of the program.
- Engage children in the training process, achieving a high level of adherence
- Establish a good range of movement through fundamental movements
- Develop a sound base of general strength using bodyweight exercises
- Develop a broad range of locomotive movement patterns
- Develop a base level of cardiovascular endurance to be able to repeat efforts
- Ensure sound technique in strength training activities for subsequent phases.
Supervised controlled strength training can:
- Increase children’s muscle strength.
- Help protect children’s muscles and joints.
- Help children improve when participating in sport.
- Teach children proper form.
Even for children who don’t want to play sports, strength training can:
- Strengthen bones.
- Help promote healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
- Help maintain a healthy weight.
- Help kids feel good about themselves.
- Increase physical activity overall.
